Open source is the product of human culture, and culture is not an independent variable, it is a process chosen or pursued by people. Si Si, the author of Open Source Reverie, wished to make an attempt to locate the important role that culture played in the open source development process by reviewing the history of the open source world in the past 20 years, especially the cultural changes therein.
